Our Learning

There are five teaching environments in 2024. We have four open learning environments with multiple teachers and year levels. Our New Entrants are in a stand-alone classroom to allow them to settle into school life. These open environments were trialled in 2017 and resulted in overwhelming positive comments from all stakeholders and success in accelerating academic progress.  As a result of exploring research around quality teaching and visible learning teachers at Paihia School are often referred to as Change Agents (CA’s). Learn, create, share pedagogy and student agency are important to us. Learning together is empowering. The school has a SENCO, Nikki Simmonds,  to plan, support and co-ordinate children with special education needs. All learning environments have at least one full-time teacher aide to further support student learning and wellbeing.
